The Stearns County 4-H Blue Ribbon Auction will be held at the Stearns County Fairgrounds on Friday, Aug. 2, at 6:30 p.m.

4-H youths from Stearns County exhibiting market beef, market sheep, market swine, market poultry, market rabbits, market goats and dairy who receive champion, reserve champion or blue ribbons with their projects are eligible to participate in the auction.

Buyers purchase the ribbon, not the market animal. Through the Blue Ribbon Auction, youths interested in the agriculture industry have a chance to meet some of the many individuals who help make the ag industry successful.  Approximately 40 youths are expected to participate in this year’s event. These 4-H’ers put in many hours throughout the year working with their animals to get them ready for the fair in hopes of earning a chance to be in the Blue Ribbon Auction.

With the support of buyers at the auction, 4-H members are able to earn additional money to help them continue with their projects and other 4-H activities; a portion of the sale also goes back to the Stearns County 4-H program to support educational livestock opportunities for youth in the county.

For more information about supporting the Blue Ribbon Auction as a buyer please contact Sara, Stearns County 4-H Program Coordinator, University of Minnesota Extension, 320-255-6169, 800-450-6171 or [email protected].
