Glenn Kotval, 86, of Eagle Bend, passed away on July 25, 2013 at the Centra Care Health System in Long Prairie. Funeral services for Glenn were held on Monday, July 29, 2013, 11:00 a.m., at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Clarissa with Father Peter VanderWeyst officiating. Burial was held at St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Clarissa.
Glenn was born September 13, 1926, on the family farm to Joe & Alice (Hybl) Kotval in Wykeham Township, Todd County, Minnesota. He graduated from high school in 1944 and was drafted in the US Army in 1945. Glenn was honorably discharged in 1946. On November 26, 1955, Glenn married Mary Ann Wesley at the Waterville Holy Trinity Catholic Church. He was a lifelong farmer and continued to live on the family homestead.
In the past; Glenn served on various boards: ADA Board, DHIA Board, Planning and Zoning and the Advisory Board. He was a 4H adult leader, a member of the Brown Swiss Association and the WFLA. He was the DHIA supervisor in Waseca for five years. Glenn was currently an active member of the Clarissa Senior Center, American Legion 213 of Clarissa and St. Joseph’s Catholic Church.
Glenn enjoyed fishing (at Randy’s Cabin), hunting, dancing old time music, farming, reading, watching sports, playing cards and showing Brown Swiss Cattle; where he received numerous awards.
Glenn is survived by his wife Mary Ann of 57 years, children: Beverly Stege of Bloomington, Randy (Kimberly) Kotval, of North St. Paul, Lisa (Kelly) Rux of Shakopee; grandchildren: Joseph & Matt Stege, Sarah & Emily Kotval and Katie & Jace Rux.
Glenn is preceded in death by his parents, Joe & Alice and brother Vern Kotval.
