Irene Mary Plemel, 93, of Long Prairie, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on July 10, 2013, at the CentraCare Health System in Long Prairie. Funeral services for Irene were held on Monday, July 15, 2013, 11:00 a.m., at St. Mary of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church in Long Prairie with Fr. Ken Riedemann officiating. Interment was held at St. Mary of Mt. Carmel Catholic Cemetery, Long Prairie.
Irene was born June 2, 1920, to Alfred & Myrtle (Larson) Triebenbach in Leslie Township, Todd County, Minnesota. She married Herman Plemel in October 1938. Irene was a homemaker, who enjoyed playing cards, sewing, gardening and baking. She was famous for her baked bread, caramel rolls and cookies. She enjoyed fishing with her family and later in life enjoyed watching birds and squirrels. One of her favorite past times was spending time with family and will be missed greatly by all. Irene was a member of St. Mary of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church.
Irene is survived by her children: Melvin Plemel of Eagle Bend, Vivian Larsen of Long Prairie, Wayne (Dottie) Plemel of Texas, Leona (Butch) Marcyes of Clotho, Allen (Sandy) Plemel of Maple Grove, Kevin Plemel of North Dakota, Dale Plemel of Long Prairie; son in law Jerome Pape of Alaska; siblings: Eulene Holmquist of Little Sauk, Elsie Frank of Long Prairie; 16 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren.
Irene is preceded in death by her parents; husband Herman, daughter Lorraine Pape, Brother Elmer Triebenbach, sisters: Hulda Triebenbach and Pauline Yff, grandson David Larsen, son-in-law Donald Larsen and daughter in law Martha Plemel.
