Lyle Cline, 80

ClineLyleWEBLyle Cline, 80 of Long Prairie died on Tuesday, July 9 at CentraCare Hospital in Long Prairie surrounded by his family.  Funeral services for Lyle will be held on Saturday, July 13, 2013; 11:00 a.m. at Shepherd of the Valley Lutheran Church in Clarissa with Pastor Melissa Ehrhardt officiating. Burial will be held at Evergreen Cemetery in Browerville.

Lyle was born August 3, 1932, in Ward Township, Todd County to John & Nellie (Johnson) Cline. He worked at the Clarissa Creamery, was the Clarissa City Clerk and also worked at the Browerville Milk Plant. His passion was music. He started playing at the age of 13 after riding his bicycle several miles to buy his first accordion and continued making music for 67 years. He received the gift of music from his mother, taught himself how to play and was accomplished in playing by ear. He could play almost any instrument that he touched and had his own band and orchestra for many, many years. In 1961 he recorded the first record made at J.A. Rademacher Recording Company in Long Prairie. He also enjoyed playing horseshoes, pool, cards and dice.

Lyle is survived by his children: Sandra Foote of Staples, Nancy (Zip) Stepaniak of Clarissa, Dale (Mel) Cline of Browerville, Kellie (Nick) Niesen of Montrose, Julie (Milo) Scheerle of Sauk Centre and Joyce Farrell of Sauk Centre; 20 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren; siblings: Lawrence (Irene) Cline of Alexandria, Ray Cline of Browerville, Leatrice Noska of Cushing, special friend June Cline of Browerville and many nieces, nephews and friends.

Lyle is preceded in death by his parents; brothers: Clifton, Harry and Wesley, great grandson Bradley Farrell and nephews, Robert Cline & Chuck Cline.
