Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, August 14, 2013 at Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Richmond, MN for Leander S. Meyer, age 85, who died Saturday at the St. Cloud Hospital. Entombment will be in the parish cemetery.
Relatives and friends may call from 4:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. Tuesday at the Wenner Funeral Home in Richmond. Parish Prayers will be at 7:30 p.m. followed by a rosary with the Knights of Columbus. Visitation will continue from 9:00 – 10:30 a.m. Wednesday morning at the funeral home.
Lee was born in Spring Hill, MN to John and Frances (Lieser) Meyer. He married Alvera Winning on August 26, 1952 in St. Andrews Catholic Church, Greenwald, MN. Lee worked for Cold Spring Granite Company for many years and retired in 1991. He was a Puzzle Master, who enjoyed farming and the outdoors. Lee was a gentle giant who loved his daily ride through the country with his son, John. He was a former president of the Richmond Baseball Team, served on the Richmond City Council and was a lifetime member of the Knights of Columbus.
Survivors include his children, Bonnie Kalmoe, John Meyer, Jim (Laurie) Meyer, Jeff (Bonnie) Meyer, Brenda (Loren) Boeckmann, Beverly (Paul) Olmscheid, BethAnn (Michael) Neu; in-laws, Kathleen Meyer, Isabelle Meyer, Ray Gerding; 16 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Alvera (2006); siblings, Monica Leukam, Gerald Meyer, Sylvester Meyer, MaryAnn Gerding.
The family would like to thank the staff of the St. Cloud Hospital ICU for their compassionate care of Lee.
