Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, August 27, 2013 at Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Richmond, MN for Ralph Zumwalde, age 95, who died Friday at Cherrywood Advanced Living in Richmond. Burial will be in the parish cemetery.
Visitation will be from 8:30 – 10:45 a.m. Tuesday morning at Sts. Peter & Paul Church in Richmond. Arrangements are with the Wenner Funeral Home in Richmond, MN.
Ralph was born in Richmond, MN to Math and Mary (Bolfing) Zumwalde. He married Marlinda (Linda) Ethen on June 24, 1948 at St. John Cantius Catholic Church, St. Cloud, MN. Ralph served in the Army during WWII from 1942 to 1946 as Staff Sergeant, serving in the European Theatre, and was awarded the Bronze Star. He was self-employed as a building contractor and retired in 1986, living in Richmond his entire life. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, bowling, golfing, gardening, and reading. He was a member of Sts. Peter & Paul Parish, the Richmond American Legion, Volunteer Fire Department, Senior Citizens, Catholic Order of Foresters, Catholic United Financial, Civic & Commerce, and past member of the Central MN Builders Assn.
Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Linda; children, Mary Kay (Fred) Newman, O’Fallon, IL, Jeanne (Mark) Zenner, Great Falls, MT, Gary (Linda), Mankato, Alan (Diana), St. Cloud, Brian (Nancy), Golden Valley; sister-in-law, Dorothy Zumwalde; 12 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters and brother, Alvina (Ted) Torborg, Alma (Eddie) Kron, and Wally.
Memorials are preferred to Sts. Peter & Paul Parish, Richmond, MN.
