Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 a.m. Monday, October 21, 2013 at Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Richmond, MN for Lorraine Thomes, age 91, who died Friday at Assumption Home. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. Relatives and friends may call from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. Sunday, October 20th at the Wenner Funeral Home in Richmond. There will be a rosary with Sts. Peter & Paul Christian Women at 4:00 p.m. Parish prayers will be at 7:30 p.m. Visitation will continue from 9:00 – 10:30 a.m., Monday morning at the funeral home.
Lorraine was born in Albany, MN to John and Mary (Bueckers) Vornbrock. She married Gregory Casper Thomes on October 23, 1945 in St. Anthony Church in Padua, MN.
Gregory passed away February 20, 2006. Lorraine worked at Animal Fair, Brinky’s, and the Cold Spring Bakery. She loved seeing her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Lorraine enjoyed gardening and canning, baking, and sharing all her baked goods. She is famous for her kuchen bread and it was enjoyed at every family gathering. Lorraine was a member of Sts. Peter & Paul Parish and Christian Women.
Survivors include her children, Dennis (Lucy) Thomes of Cold Spring, Mary Ann (Donald) Dingmann of Richmond, Caroline (Ron) Hoagland of Cold Spring, Diane (Merle) Eisert of Richmond, Allan (Judy) Thomes of St. Cloud, Glen (Jan) Thomes of Mayer, Marlyne (Leon) Molitor of Cold Spring; 14 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Gregory; brothers and sisters, Virgil Vornbrock, Marcie Warner, Francella Rouslange, Roman Vornbrock, Wilfred Vornbrock, and Winnefred Tuholsky; granddaughter, Rachelle Hoagland, and grandson, Rick Dingmann.
