Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 a.m., Thursday, October 31, 2013 at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Cold Spring, MN for Marcella M. Symalla, age 88, who died Sunday at Assumption Home. Burial will be in the St. Boniface Parish Cemetery.
Relatives and friends may call from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, October 30th at the Wenner Funeral Home in Cold Spring. Parish Prayers will be at 6:30 p.m. Visitation will continue from 9:30 – 10:30 a.m., Thursday morning at the funeral home.
Marcella “Mouse” was born in St. Cloud to Vincent and Veronica (Hemmelgarn) Witschen. She married Mathew Symalla on November 3, 1949 in Holy Angels Catholic Church in St. Cloud. Marcella was a loving wife and mother. She was a longtime employee of the ROCORI School District before she retired. She enjoyed baking, watching sports, playing cards, and spending time with her family, friends, and relatives. She was especially proud of the embroidered Christmas stockings she made for each of her kids.
Survivors include her children, Tom of Cold Spring, Barb of St. Paul, and Joan of St. Paul; brothers and sisters, Alvina “Vini” Sauer, Rose Mary “Rosie” Borgen, LuAnn Billig, and Annette “Netty” (Rick) Kahlhamer.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Mathew (2011); infant son, Joseph; brothers and sisters, Jerome, Richard, Eldon “Butch”, and Ionella “Nellie” Blaske.
