The Sauk Centre Area Wellness Event will be held Friday, Oct. 18. The event is designed to educate, inform and entertain residents of central Minnesota.
New this year is the addition of a keynote speaker. Willow Sweeney is co-founder of Top 20 Training. She will talk about “Living Above the Line: How Our Thinking Governs Our Experience.” Our health and wellness is greatly impacted by our mental habits and the quality of our thinking. This session focuses on becoming aware of our thinking so we know when it is working and when it is not.
The goal of this session is to provide a practical and easy way to help people become aware of their thinking and guide them to discover the power of choice and personal responsibility.
We also have two rounds of scheduled breakout sessions being held in a classroom setting. Attendees can choose from eight topics and attend the sessions they’re interested in. Scheduled topics include Cold Weather Birding Responsibilities, How to Age Safely in Your Home, Veterans Issues, Skin Cancer in the Aging Population, Hand Made Greeting Cards, Delicious Diabetic Dishes, Medicare Part D Drug Plans, Medicare Savings Programs and Low Income Subsidy, and Building Blocks of Estate Planning.
As usual, there will be a multitude of area businesses participating in the event. Attendees can visit exhibitors in the multipurpose room at their leisure. Flu shots will also be available this year so remember to bring your insurance information.
Free lunch will be served in the multipurpose room. Jerry Bierschbach’s One Man Bandstand will provide entertainment during lunch. Jerry plays a variety of old time, classic country and swing music.
At the end of the event there will be a variety of door prizes given away. You must be present to win.
This year’s platinum level sponsor is CentraCare Health System Sauk Centre. The event is co-sponsored by First State Bank, Central Minnesota Credit Union, Alternative Senior Care, Community Education, Fairway Pines Assisted Living, Patton-Schad Funeral Services, Advantage 1 Insurance, Community Connection and UCare.
