Dennis Marcyes

Dennis Marcyes, age 70 of Long Prairie, passed away on Saturday evening, November 23, 2013 at his home in Leslie Township, Todd County, surrounded by his family.
Dennis was born on June 29, 1943 in Bertha, MN to Harland and Opal (Doese) Marcyes. He attended country school and then graduated from Long Prairie High School with the class of 1961, where he excelled in football and wrestling. On June 23, 1962 Dennis married Bonny Bodeker in Villard, MN. His first job was working at the Clotho Creamery, but then he took a job working road construction as a heavy equipment operator. For the past 30 plus years he had been working for Central Specialties, Inc. of Alexandria, MN. His newest hobby was doing some farming, which he enjoyed greatly. Other hobbies included hunting, fishing, trapping and taking an annual trip each winter to Yuma, AZ. Dennis especially loved spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was always ready to lend someone a helping hand or give some firm advice.
Dennis was a member of the National Rifle Association and the MN Trappers Association.
He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Bonny Marcyes of Long Prairie; his children, Tami (Al) Priebe of Long Prairie, Shane (Heidi) Marcyes of Eagle Bend and Shawn (Shanin) Marcyes of Long Prairie; 10 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; two brothers, Jesse Marcyes of Clarissa and Punk Marcyes of Long Prairie; several nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Harland and Opal Marcyes, a brother, Rodney Marcyes; sisters-in-law, Lorie Marcyes, Bonnie Marcyes, Sharon Joarnt; brothers-in-law, Darrell and Dean Bodeker.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, November 27, 2013 at 1:00 pm at the Peace United Church North in Long Prairie, MN with Rev. Richard Wilder officiating. Organist is Marcia Woeste. Interment is at the Pleasant Valley Cemetery in Clotho, MN. Honorary pallbearers are Ross Wilson, Kenny Behrens, Jim Pontius, Ole Bodle, Roger Berkness, Dan Engle and all of his great grandchildren. Active pallbearers are his grandsons, Nick, Jordan and Zack Marcyes, Rian Fromming, Adam Eischens and Charlie Priebe.
A visitation will be held on Tuesday, Nov. 26 from 4 8 pm at the Clotho United Methodist Church and also one hour before the funeral service on Wednesday at the Peace United Church North in Long Prairie.
Arrangements are with the Roy-Hetland Funeral Home in Osakis, MN.
