Memorial services will be held at 11 AM, Tuesday, December 3, 2013 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Long Prairie for Robert J. Wolter, age 87 of Long Prairie. Pastor Noah Wehrspann will officiate and burial will take place at Trinity Lutheran Cemetery in Long Prairie. Friends may call from 5-7 PM Monday at the Williams Dingmann Family Funeral in Long Prairie and one hour prior to the services on Tuesday at the church.
Robert J. Wolter was born March 13, 1926 in Long Prairie, MN, the son of Joseph and Florence (Bartella) Wolter. He attended school in Browerville, where he graduated from high school. Robert entered the U.S. Navy during WWII, where he was stationed in Honolulu, Hawaii. On April 7, 1950 he married Lyla Gammelien and they lived in Long Prairie. Robert worked as a lineman for Minnesota Power until retiring in 1985.
Robert was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and the Verterans of Foreign Wars in Long Prairie. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and socializing with friends and family.
Robert is survived by his daughter, Nanette Gibeau of Coon Rapids, MN; grandchildren, Jennifer (Tony) Allen of Santa Monica, CA and Jason (Jill) Ostendorf of Pequot Lakes, MN; and great-grandchildren, Alicia Allen, Madeline Allen, Megan Ostendorf, and Katlyn Ostendorf.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Lyla, son-in-law, Richard Gibeau, and sister, Lorraine McDonald.
