Gail Bruder

Gail M. (Hubbard) Bruder, 94, a resident of Long Prairie, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 17, 2013 at CentraCare Health Systems Long Prairie.
A funeral service was held at 11 a.m., Saturday, Dec. 21, 2013 at St. Mary of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church in Long Prairie with the Fr. Mark Willenbring officiating. Burial was in Evergreen Cemetery in Long Prairie. Visitation was from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday with the St. Marys Catholic Women praying the Rosary at 4 p.m. and parish prayers at 6 p.m. and after 8 a.m. Saturday at the Williams Dingmann Family Funeral Home Stein Chapel in Long Prairie.
Gail M. Gutches was born April 20, 1919, near Long Prairie, to Merton and Maude (Haines) Gutches. She grew up in Gutches Grove and attended country school in Reynolds Township. She later graduated from Long Prairie High School. Gail attended the Minnesota School of Business in Minneapolis. She married Max Hubbard on Dec. 27, 1938 in Sisseton, South Dakota. They farmed in Reynolds Township until his death on Aug. 16, 1982. She moved to Long Prairie and worked at the Long Prairie Memorial Hospital for several years. She married Emil Bruder on May 2, 1987 in Long Prairie. He passed away on Nov. 11, 2011.
Gail was a member of St. Mary of Mt. Carmel, where she spent many hours in the Adoration Chapel, and was a former member of the Long Prairie United Methodist Church and its Ladies Aid. She also belonged to a Homemakers Club for many years. She enjoyed sewing, crocheting, baking, and traveling with Emil.
Gail is survived by her children, Merton (Nancy) Hubbard of St. Cloud, Virginia (Milton) Goplen of Dawson, MN, and Sally Knutson (Jeanette Mefford) of Minneapolis, step-children, Michael Bruder of Winona, Carolyn (Vernon) Ferrian of Brainerd, Janice (Keith) Engbrecht of Glenwood, Charlotte (Richard) Green of Prior Lake, MN, Dana (Wayne) Gregerson of Boise, ID, Greg (Ardyne) Bruder of Long Prairie, Teresa (Kevin) Gustafson of Lakeville, MN, and Renee (Jim) Holmquist of Rockville, MN, nine grandchildren, 27 step-grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, 37 step-great-grandchildren, and two step-great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands, Max and Emil, and two brothers, Rod & Merton Gutches.
Casketbearers were her grandchildren, Kevin, Todd, and Neil Hubbard, Cheryl Engelman, Lisa Bothun, Carla Lee, Malea and Elise Goplen, and Cynthia Knutson.
