Stearns County Auditor-Treasurer Randy Schreifels reminds voters that offices will be open additional hours to accommodate those needing to cast an absentee ballot for the Commissioner District 5 special election.
The Stearns County Auditor’s Office and the Clerk’s Office at the City of Melrose will be open on Saturday, Jan.25, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. and an extra half-hour on Monday, Jan. 27, until 5p.m., for absentee balloting.
The last day to vote absentee is Jan. 27. The special election for Commissioner District 5 is Tuesday, Jan. 28.
Residents in District 5 can vote by absentee ballot at the Auditor-Treasurer’s Office, located in downtown St. Cloud at the County Administration Building, 705 Courthouse Square, Room 148. Normal office hours are 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.
Voters in District 5 may also cast an absentee ballot at the City of Melrose. With the 5th Commissioner District located primarily in the western part of the county, the City of Melrose was added as an absentee ballot location for this election only, for the convenience of the voters.
