Mass of Christian burial celebrating the life of Gerald Jerry Albert Jacobs, age 69 of Opole will take place at 11AM Thursday, January 23, 2014 at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church in Opole. Father Gregory Mastey will officiate and burial will take place in the parish cemetery following the mass. Jerry died peacefully in his home Sunday morning with his family by his side. There will be a visitation from 4-8PM Wednesday, January 22nd at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church and again from 10AM until the time of the service Thursday morning once again at the church. Parish prayer will take place at 5PM and the Christian Mothers and Knights of Columbus will pray the rosary at 7PM Wednesday evening at the church. Arrangements are being made with the Miller-Carlin Funeral Home of Holdingford.
Jerry was born June 13, 1944 in Upsala to Edward and Veronica (Stueve) Jacobs. He grew up on a family farm near Upsala and later married Mary Kurtz. In life, Jerry worked at a variety of places including Landy Packing, Robel Packing, and Fingerhut all while farming on his family farm and custom baling for many years. Jerry was a very religious man placing his faith and his church above all else. He was a very active member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church in Opole.
Jerry is survived by his beloved wife and best friend Mary Jacobs, Opole; his children Francie (Jared) Jackels, Sauk Rapids; Nicholas Jacobs, Holdingford; Michael (Ashley) Jacobs, Opole; his grandchildren Tyler, Shannon, Dalton, Cole, Baxter, Leo, Matthew, Anastasia, and his siblings Vernon (Mary) Jacobs, Melrose; Marion Kurtz, Albany; Carol Ann Ritter, Long Prairie.
He is preceded in death by his parents Edward and Veronica Jacobs, his sisters Delores Roerick, Darlene Ahrens, Lillian Valcamp, his brothers Virgil Jacobs, LaVern Jacobs (infant), and his nephew Leo Jacobs.
