St. Cloud Diocese church records discussion set for Tuesday

Join the St. Cloud Area Genealogists on Tuesday, Jan. 21, at 7 p.m. at the Stearns History Museum to hear presenters Gretchen Liesen and Stearns History Museum Archivist Sarah Warmka discuss St. Cloud Diocese Church Records. Liesen will lead a presentation about this project at the diocese, and how several volunteers have spent countless hours at the Chancery office going through baptism, marriage and burial information that dates back to the 1850s. The culmination of their research, including indexed records from 44 churches in the St. Cloud Diocese, are now being shared with the Stearns History Museum. Sarah Warmka will demonstrate how to access these records and will also share some tips regarding how to utilize them in reference to genealogical research. St. Cloud Area Genealogists’ Meetings are free and open to the public.

The St. Cloud Area Genealogists, Inc. was organized in October 1973 to promote genealogical interest and research, compile records for organizational and public use, and encourage public interest in genealogy by providing educational activities and opportunities. The organization meets the third Tuesday of the month January-May/September-November.

This event is free and open to the public.

The Stearns History Museum is located at 235 33rd Ave. S., St. Cloud.
