Viola Zylka, 80

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 1 pm, Wednesday, January 29, 2014 at St. Josephs Catholic Church in Grey Eagle, Minnesota for Viola M. Zylka, age 80, of Long Prairie, who died Saturday at CentraCare Health Systems-Long Prairie. Rev. Ronald Dockendorf will officiate and burial will be at Langola Cemetery in Rice, Minn. Friends may call from 4-7 pm on Tuesday at Williams Dingmann Family Funeral Home Stein Chapel, Long Prairie and one hour prior to the services at the church.
Viola Mae Barthel was born July 22, 1933 in Swanville, Morrison County, Minnesota, the daughter of Frank and Elsie (Shinabarger) Barthel. She attended Swanville School. She married Kenny Meyer, who preceded her in death. She worked at Crestliner and Larson Boats for over 30 years, retiring in 1991. She later married Melvin Zylka. They lived in Long Prairie.
She was a member of St. Josephs Catholic Church, Grey Eagle. Viola enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren. She also enjoyed playing cards, taking care of the yard and house, dancing, drive-inn movies, and wintering in Texas with Melvin.
Viola is survived by her children, Roland (Margie) Meyer of Mansfield, TX, Kelvin (Janet) Meyer of Royalton, Donna Mahan of Long Prairie, and Mary Waldoch of Little Falls, brothers, Richard (Orianna) Barthel of Long Prairie, Frank (Gloria) Barthel of Swanville, and Lloyd (Vicky) Barthel of Swanville, also 13 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands, Kenny Meyer and Melvin Zylka, daughter, Karen Meyer, brother, Edward Barthel and sister, Alice Barthel.
Pallbearers will be Jesse Sanders, Kelly Meyer, Brian Waldoch, Michael Waldoch, JT Mahan, and Dave Kuhl.
