1/2 c. sugar
1/4 c. cornstarch
1/3 c. unsweetened cocoa powder
3 c. 2% milk
2 oz. semisweet chocolate, chopped (1/4 cup)
2 tsp. vanilla extract
In medium saucepan whisk together sugar, cocoa powder, cornstarch and salt. Whisk in milk and bring to boil, stirring, over medium-high heat. Lower heat to medium and cook, stirring, until thickened, about five minutes. Remove pot from heat and stir in chocolate and vanilla until smooth. Serve warm or chilled. (Add whipped topping with a candied cherry on top, if desired.) Serves six.
