Donald L. Ziemer, 75 of New London, died Thursday, April 10, 2014 at his home surround by family. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, April 15, 2014 at Crow River Lutheran Church in rural Belgrade. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. Monday at the church and for one hour prior to the services. Arrangements are with the Johnson Funeral in New London.
Donald Leo Ziemer was born on May 31, 1938 in Ceylon, to Leo and Ruby (Campbell) Ziemer. He grew up in Ceylon where he attended school, graduating in 1956. He continued his education at St. Cloud State. On May 21, 1960, Don was united in marriage to Louise Maurer in Paynesville. To this union four sons and a daughter were born. They lived in Paynesville for a year before moving to their rural New London farm. Don worked for Midwest Breeders Association as an A.I. tech. Serving many area farmers for several years. In 1968, Don began auctioneering and in 1992 began the Ziemer Family Auctioneering Services, which he was very proud that all his children helped with.
Don was a member of Crow River Lutheran Church where he had served on church council. He was also a member of the N.L. Creamery Board and MN Auctioneer Association. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, coin collecting, hunting for arrowheads and reminiscing with family and friends.
Donald died Thursday, April 10, 2014 at his home at the age of 75 surrounded by his family. He is survived by his wife, Louise of 53 years; children, Mark (Lori) Ziemer of New London, Brian (Shelly) Ziemer of New London, Scott Ziemer of Bloomington, Todd (Krista) Ziemer of Sauk Centre and Susan Swanson of New London; ten grandchildren; 4 great-grandsons; brother, Percy (Judy) Ziemer of Belgrade; dog, Pooh and many other relatives. Don was preceded in death by his parents; infant brother and sister and sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Luella and Samuel Krupke.
