Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, June 4, 2014 at St. Nicholas Catholic Church in St. Nicholas for Ellen E. Hommerding, age 83, who died Friday at the Saint Cloud Hospital surrounded by family. Burial will be in the parish cemetery.
Relatives and friends may call after 4:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. Tuesday at the Wenner Funeral Home in Richmond. Parish prayers will be at 7:00 p.m. Visitation will continue from 9:00 a.m. 10:00 a.m. Wednesday morning at the funeral home.
Ellen was born in St. Martin to Edward and Theckla (Winter) Jonas. She married Alfred H. Hommerding on September 24, 1952 in St. Martin Catholic Church in St. Martin. Ellen was a homemaker all her life and also was the bookkeeper for Hommerding Repair. She loved baking, cooking, canning, dancing, and playing cards. She made wonderful pickles and loved to be with her family and friends. She was a member of St. Nicholas Parish.
Survivors include her children, Ronald (Pauline), Dennis, Donald (Diane), DonnaMae (Rocky) Lehmeier, and Gerald (Michele); grandchildren, Sheila (Thomas) Amborn, Tricia (Steven) Wheat, Ryan Hommerding, Angie Hommerding, Amy Lehmeier (Kyle Jochman), Vicky (Peter) Lansing, Nicholas (Trisha) Lehmeier, and Jesse Lehmeier; 9 great-grandchildren; brothers, Arnold Jonas, Clem Jonas, and Edmund (Marge) Jonas; sisters, Arlene Winkels, Darlene Hommerding, and Sally Douvier; sisters-in-law, Catherine Hommerding, and MaryJane Theisen.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Alfred (2005); sister, Mary Jonas; sisters-in-law, Rose Jonas and Eileen Jonas; brothers-in-laws, George Winkels, Harold Hommerding, Richard Douvier, Arthur Hommerding, and Alfred (Fritz) Theisen.
