Robbin Minke, 85

Robbin Minke, 85, of Long Prairie, MN, passed away on June 24, 2014, at the Centra Care Health System in Long Prairie. A Celebration of Life was held on Friday, June 27, 2014 11:00 2:00 p.m., at the American Legion Post 12 in Long Prairie. Burial was held at St. Marys Catholic Cemetery, Long Prairie, MN.
Robbin was born December 7, 1928, in St. Cloud, MN to Robert & Ella (Hasselbring) Minke. He moved to Long Prairie when he was young and attended school through the 8th grade. After school he worked a variety of jobs. He enlisted in the US Army in 1951, served in Korea, and was honorably discharged in 1952. He went to work for Starrys as a heavy equipment operator. On September 28, 1957, Robbin married Margaret Maggie Klang in Grey Eagle, MN. He and Maggie moved to California for several years and then returned to their present home in Long Prairie. He worked as a truck driver for Hart Press in Long Prairie for many years, retiring in 1992. Robbin enjoyed hunting, fishing, tinkering in his garage doing many types of metal work; including making his famous fish house stoves, and traveling with Maggie. He and Maggie were married 51 years until she passed away in 2008. He was an avid Green Bay Packers Fan and loved to rile up the local Vikings fans; he especially enjoyed spending time with family and friends. Robbin was a member of the American Legion Post 12 and the VFW 1140.
Robbin is survived by his children: Tammie (Bob) Chapin of Osakis, Terry (Robert) Carr of Long Prairie, Dan (Bridget) Minke of Long Prairie; grandchildren: Jesse, Jack, Misty, Tracy, Abbey, Natalie; 6 great grandchildren; his sister Neoma Klemenhagen of Alexandria; and many extended family and friends.
Robbin was preceded in death by his parents, wife Maggie and Brother Wayne.
