Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 am on Monday, July 7, 2014 at St. Mary of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church in Long Prairie, for Emily J. Johnson, age 92, of Long Prairie who passed away on Sunday, June 29, 2014 at CentraCare Health Systems-Long Prairie. Fr. Omar Guanchez will officiate and burial will be in the St. Marys Cemetery in Long Prairie. Family and friends may call from 9 am until 11 am at the church on Monday with the Christian Women praying the rosary at 9 am. Emily Josephine Becker was born August 13, 1921 in Hartford Township, Todd County, Minnesota, the daughter of Frank and Frances (Logering) Becker. She grew up and attended school in the Long Prairie area. She was married to Harvey Miller at one time. Emily worked as a nurses aid at the Long Prairie Boarding House and the Long Prairie Nursing Home. She married Erling Johnson on October 8, 1989 in St. Cloud, Minnesota. They made their home in Long Prairie.
Emily was a member of St. Mary of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church and the V.F.W. Auxiliary. She enjoyed dancing, gardening, visiting and joking around with people.
Emily is survived by her children, Daniel (Janice) Miller, Long Prairie and Virginia (David) Citrowski, Richfield, MN, step-children, Joyce (Al) Schlinger, Aikin, MN, Lois Baker, Blaine, MN, Bruce (Karen) Johnson, St. Anthony Village, MN, Curtis (Vicky) Johnson, Omaha, NE, Sarah (Paul) Parthun, Becita, MN and Glen Johnson, Cushing, MN, also 3 grandchildren, 12 step-grandchildren, and 4 great-grandchildren and a sister Eileen Hayes, Long Prairie.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Erling in 2010, son LeRoy, daughter, Helen, brothers, John, Clarence, Leo, and Anthony, and sister Edna Wettstein.
Casket bearers will be Chad Miller, Mitch Johnson, Brad Kamphenkel, David Citrowski, Kyle Citrowski, and David Becker.
