Dennis Denny Charles Steinmetz, 80, passed away at his home on Saturday, August 23, 2014. Denny was born April 28, 1934 to Jake and Helen (Hillmer) Steinmetz in Browerville, MN. He married Deloris (Buhl) on August 6, 1965. Together they shared 26 years of marriage until her death in 1991.
After graduation from Browerville High School in 1951, Denny served 4 years in the United States Air Force in the Office of Special Investigation, stationed in Germany and Saudi Arabia. He worked at Todd County Dairy/Land O Lakes from 1956-1991 as a milk production specialist. Denny was a member of the Veterans Honor Guard since 1955; a lifetime member of the VFW; a member of the Browerville Fire Department for 13 years; and president of the Browerville Sportsmans Club for 9 years.
Denny was an innovative and creative individual with many talents and hobbies. He was a Golden Gloves boxer and boxing judge; he enjoyed singing and playing the violin and tonette; he was an avid fisherman, hunter, and gardener; and he enjoyed repairing and maintaining refrigeration units. Denny also helped many folks discover water with his gift of well-witching.
Survivors include Brothers Jim Steinmetz, Tom (Ramona) Steinmetz, Sister Mary Lou (Bob) Klein, sister-in-laws Eileen Steinmetz and Alice Steinmetz, and many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. He was preceded in death by his wife, parents, brothers Leo and Jerry, sister-in-law Eleanor Steinmetz, and extended family members. A Mass of Christian Burial will celebrate Dennys life on August 26, 2014 at Christ the King Church.
