Irene Dreher, 87

Irene Dreher, 87 of Clarissa, passed away Tuesday, August 19 at the Bethany Home in Alexandria. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, August 23, 2014; 12:00 p.m. at St. Josephs Catholic Church in Clarissa, burial will be at the parish cemetery at a later date. Friends may call one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday.
Irene was born August 21, 1926 to Joseph and Mary (Wolff) Perish in Golden, Colorado. She attended Rolston Creek Country School in Colorado and as a teenager, moved back to the Browerville area and worked on the family farm with her parents. She met David Dreher at a square dance at the Opera House in Clarissa and they were married September 28, 1944 at St. Josephs Catholic Church in Clarissa. They purchased their farm in 1945 and moved in March of 1946. In 1976 they started raising buffalo on the farm; the first in Minnesota.
Irene loved to travel, especially with her children; she would travel to the western states and back to Golden, Colorado, where she was born. She also travelled overseas, going to Europe and the Holy Land. Irene was very devout and active in her church; she enjoyed cooking, gardening and embroidery; she also served on the school board for the Clarissa school district.
She is survived by her children, David Daniel (Mary) Dreher of Bloomington, Douglas Richard (Jean) Dreher of Deming, New Mexico, Pamela (Steve) Anderson of Alexandria, Donald James (Catherine) Dreher of Alexandria, brother, Joseph (Joanne) Perish, 6 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Irene is preceded in death by her parents, Joseph & Mary, husband, David; 3 sons, Robert Ronald, Thomas Wayne, Steven Wayde; 2 sisters, Lorrayne and Florentine; 2 brothers, George and Fred.
