David Otte, 55

 

David A. "Dave" Otte, age 55 of Sauk Centre, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Saturday, October 31, 2015 at his home after a long and courageous battle with cancer.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, November 4 at Our Lady of the Angels Catholic Church in Sauk Centre with Rev. Jeremy Theis officiating. Interment will be in the parish cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday and from 9 to 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Patton-Schad Funeral Home in Sauk Centre. Parish prayers will be at 5 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

David Alan Otte was born December 28, 1959 in Sauk Centre, Minnesota to Bernard and Leora (Beidleman) Otte. He graduated from Sauk Centre High School in 1978 and completed a program with aviation mechanics at Dakota Aero Technical College in Fargo, ND. On December 22, 1989 he married Lisa Egan at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Alexandria. For the last 20 years, Dave was employed at Spartan Nash in St. Cloud. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, golfing, and spending time with family and friends. He was a member of Our Lady of the Angels Catholic Church.

Dave leaves a legacy of love and integrity with his family and those who knew him. His biggest joy was his son Seth. He has left behind wonderful memories of a loving husband, father, son, brother, brother-in-law, cousin, and uncle. We are grateful for each and every day we got to see his glowing smile, and for the lessons learned and all the jokes we shared. We will miss him more than words can express.

Survivors include his wife, Lisa Otte of Sauk Centre; son, Seth Otte of Sauk Centre; mother and step-father, Leora Otte-Calkins and Lewis Calkins of Sauk Centre; brother, Bruce Otte of N. St. Paul; brothers and sisters-in-law, LeRoy Egan of Elrosa, Kathy Banke of Sauk Centre, John (Bernice) Egan of Sauk Centre, Sue (Steve) Peterson of Sauk Centre, and Mary Egan of Sauk Centre; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Dave was preceded in death by his father; Bernard Otte on March 8, 1970; father and mother-in-law, Wallace and Lucille Egan; and brothers-in-law, Raymond Egan, Edmund Egan, and Jeffrey Banke.

Casket bearers will be Aaron Banke, Brent Egan, Zach Otte, Nick Deters, Grant Peterson, and Courtney Schroeder. Cross bearer will be Ali Peterson and scripture bearer will be Nicholas Adams. Mass servers will be Ryan Herickhoff, Bill Moritz, and Dylan Kohorst. Reader will be Nicholas Adams. Gift bearers will be Morgan Adams and Andrew Primus. Eucharistic Ministers will be Bernie Herickhoff and Linda Herickhoff.
