Ever since the Cold War ended on Dec. 26, 1991, with the U.S. the seeming victor, the United States has gradually become less serious about the importance of good government. We no longer seem to care about the personal character and integrity of the people we elect, and we choose the political class based only on gaining power for one group of special interests or the other, not on the general welfare.

Human nature being unchanging, the world remains a dangerous place. However, our elected virtue-signalers seem incapable of acknowledging the fact. When they should be concerned about the financial future of Social Security, the lack of a comprehensive immigration policy or how to pay for all the government some want without taxing our grandchildren, our political class avoids any responsibility.
